Thank-you everybody who came to pray for Maria we had a reasonable group of eight turn up to do prayers. Nick brought with him some readings from the Bible that we each took turns to read from and take a moments silence afterwards with Maria and Scilla in our thoughts as we prayed. We also took time to share experiences and thoughts as we looked through the readings that focused us on Maria and Scilla. We especially wanted Scilla and Maria to take comfort from Isaiah 41 verse 10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand". After some discussions about fear and the difficulty it presents humankind the world over, Nick then closed with a reading from James which is as follows:
The Prayer of Faith
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Then a volunteer (me) stepped in to be anointed with olive oil as a stand in for Maria. We also prayed for Arthur and he too was anointed with the olive oil.
I received a text from Scilla this evening not long after we closed to say that our prayers have worked, Maria's test results were looking good. Thank God for His grace.
